An Introduction to Directing

 SLATE in collaboration with RTYDS

This five-day residential workshop offers an introduction for Black* artists (18+) who are interested in exploring directing. This is a hands-on, practical week which offers a chance to work with leading Black practitioners and professional actors. The week will include: working with text, devising, different starting points for creation, physical theatre and working with new media. Expenses, lunches and accommodation (for those from outside of Sheffield) will be covered by SLATE.

Times: 10am – 5pm
Venue: The Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield, S1 2BX

Who Can Apply

Black* artists working in any medium or discipline, whether they make work on their own or with others, and who are based in the North of England (North West, Yorkshire and Humberside, North East).

*Slate's definition of ‘Black’ includes African, Caribbean, East Asian, Middle Eastern and South Asian.
