About Slate

Black. Arts. World.

Slate launched Wednesday 17th May 2017

Welcome to Slate – a new international programme, starting in the North of England, that will support thousands of Black Independent Artists by increasing access to local, national and international networks.

Developed and delivered by the Black arts sector in the North, Slate is funded by an Arts Council England Sustained Theatre Award.

The Enablers

Slate is delivered by 6 brilliant individuals, based across the region.

The Enablers are here to support Black artists to access the range of opportunities available in the next three years spanning:

  • Training
  • Commissions
  • Play pots
  • Residencies
  • Retreats
  • Group workshops
  • Production support
  • Marketing / PR

As well as representing the programme and the artists we support on an international platform.

We’re right at the beginning and picking up speed fast – if you are an artist looking for support, sign up to our mailing list or contact the Enabler in your area here to find out what’s coming up next.

Slate is a consortia of 11 organisations: ARC Stockton, Hull Truck, Oxford Playhouse, British Council, Bradford City Council, York Theatre Royal, Pilot Theatre, Live Theatre, Unity Theatre, HOME MCR, Forced Entertainment and East St Arts

Support Us

How can you help us?

We have an amazing opportunity to bring about substantial change, but we need your help to do this.

Eclipse is a charity and over the next three years we need to raise £150,000 to achieve our ambitious aims. Any donation that you can give, large or small, will be appreciated and will help to support this work.

If you donate now, one of our generous funders, Arts Council England, has offered to match your gift with a donation of the same amount – doubling whatever you give.

Please support us and become part of the Eclipse revolution!

Dawn Walton,
Artistic Director

Gift Aid

I want all donations I've made to you in the past four years and all donations in future to be treated as Gift Aid donations until I notify you otherwise.
I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.
We will claim 25p on every £1 you donate.

There is a problem with your payment -
