This an opportunity to share and connect with Artist Ella Mesma and Enabler Melanie Abrahams from the Slate World UK team. This week we will be exploring the themes of autonomy, altruism and Afropeans with award-winning writer, photographer, and broadcast journalist Johny Pitts.

Johny has received various awards for his work exploring African-European identity, including a Decibel Penguin Prize, an ENAR (European Network Against Racism) award and a Society of Authors Travelling Grant. He is the curator of the online journal, and has contributed words and images for The Guardian, The New Statesman and The New York Times. 

His book Afropean: Notes from Black Europe won the 2020 Jhalak Prize and has been translated into German, Italian and French.
